SPAT + Ableton + Quadri?

Hello there,
I’m working on an installation where I need to move sound sources in space.
Since my synths are build in Ableton Live, I’d like to use the SPAT vst to automate movements.
I have 4 active speakers plugged on 1 M-Track Eight audio interface.
I have 1 spat instance on each track, but I can only work in stereo (setting up the out for each track as 1-2 or 3-4).
Is there a way to achieve what I’m tring to do in Live?

Thankyouuuu

I actually think Spat might be overkill for this. You could use a max for live plugin called xy nodes that does quadraphonic in live perfectly :

I liked the fact that spat was so precise and realistic in terms of movements and space (doppler, reverbs, elevation, aperture, etc.)
Im trying to get as close to a “real world” hearing situation as possible.

But in the end i might not get an accurate result with only four speakers indeed.
Thanks for the link Ill take a look !!

If it’s about the Flux Spat plugin in VST format, in a quad speakers config with 2 sources, you should proceed like this:

  • create a setup in the Flux plugin with 2 ins and 4 outs using the almost hidden tool icon below the Flux name:

This opens a popup, select Config and choose the desired config :

Then create in and out tracks :

Sound sources are routed to the different inputs of the plugin using the Audio To menu, then selecting the desired inputs pair in the sub-menu just below.

For the outputs of the plugin, create a track, set its monitor monde to “in”, select the track that contains the plugin as the origin in the Audio From menu, then select the desired outputs pair in the sub-menu. then route each track to the desired outputs of the soundboard.

The problem is that the plugin won’t save the Spat config when you save your set, so all routings are lost when you re-open your set. I’ve reported this many times, but Flux doesn’t seem to care about Live users too much. So it’s barely unusable.

Thanks so much for the clear answer, at least I’ll be able to try the plugin properly now…
But if it doesnt save the settings i wont use it for my project.
Thanks alot though !
