Hello,
Is there a time smoothing setting in KNN panning mode to avoid sudden cuts of loudspeakers when a sound is moving? I can’t find anything related in the reference.
Also, is there any tutorial dedicated to KNN?
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
The message is /ramp/time [value in milliseconds]
.
To avoid sudden variations, you should also increase the number of used neighboring loudspeakers (message /neighbors
).
Best,
T.
It would be nice if ramp time could be set with a different value for increases and decreases, like slew limiters on modular synthesizers.
I am not totally convinced that this would be so helpful… But why not.
I’ll add that request to my todo-list, although to be honest it will be low-priority.
PS : at least for experiments/prototyping, it should be possible to implement that yourself, in a patch, using spat5.pan
(without tilda) to compute the speaker gains + line~
or matrix~
Best,
T.
