importing room impulse responses

Hi everybody,

I’d like to know if I can import external room impulse responses (and in which format) and spatialize sounds inside it using the hrtfs of the SPAT library.

Hi

You may find a hint in the reverb tab / convolution section in the spat5 overview
Combined to a pan object of your choice may do the trick…

Hi Gialli,

Depends on what you’re trying to achieve, and which materials you have…

Impulse responses (IR) can be used in spat5.conv~ (loading IR as audio file, typically wav or aiff).
Anechoic HRTFs can be used e.g. in spat5.sofa.loader and spat5.binaural~ (data has to be in SOFA format, with the “SimpleFreeFieldHRIR” convention).
Binaural room impulses responses (BRIR) can be used in spat5.multispeakerbrir~ (data has to be in SOFA format, with the “MultiSpeakerBRIR” convention).
The last one (BRIR) is still kind of experimental.

You’ll find further infos about the SOFA format in the spat5.sofa.loader help patcher.

Cheers,
T.
