FuMa or AmbiX

Hi!

A quick question: when I render a HOA7 64ch. file using SPAT, I assume the channel order is going to be AmbiX by default, as well as by necessity?
(Is there even an option to set channel order in SPAT? I couldn’t see any such setting in the tutorial files…)

Thanks,
Girilal

Hi,

Yes. Spat uses “ACN” channel ordering (Ambisonic data exchange formats - Wikipedia), as AmbiX does.

Be aware, though, that Spat has a “peculiar” coordinate system, which differs from most other tools. Have a look at “spat5.tuto-hoa-1.maxpat” for info.

And back to channel ordering: you can use spat5.hoa.sorting~ to change channel sorting. (and spat5.hoa.converter~ to change normalization. Default normalization is SN3D in most objects)

Best,
T.
