Can't make Listener Editable

Hello, I’m new to Spat and just exploring features. I would like to be able to move the listener in binaural environment, but it will not allow me to turn on Listener Editable. Is this not an option for binaural rendering? What restrictions are the to move the listener? I am using Spat 4.9.1 on Mac OS 10.11.6.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Welcome on the forum.

Similar question arose just a few days ago. See my response here :
the right way to move the listener

Best,

Hi T,

Thanks very much, this works well and the relative motion of listener to source sounds great.

I’m going to using OSC messages to track the listener’s mobile phone around the room - do you have any tips for :

i) scaling the OSC data correctly and
ii) editing the room size / dimensions in the spat viewer

I would like to be able to draw rooms with dimensions similar to the picture on the project home-page (attached!)

Thanks again,
Mike

i) Not so sure what “scaling correctly” means. This probably depends on which kind of OSC data you’ll receive and which kind of tracking system you’ll use.
In any case, spat.transform could be handy to easily scale your data.

ii) the picture was obtained by drawing “areas” in the spat.viewer. Have a look at the 4th and 5th tab of the spat.viewer help patch.

Hi T,

Thank you for your quick reply. I will be sending OSC data using a mobile device (which calculates proximity to iBeacons) and each room will be of different dimensions, so spat.transform is exactly what I’m looking for. I also have some data in Reaper which I would like to connect via OSC and would like to try the ToscA plug in, but I am unable to download this from the store (it says that the requested download is not yet in the card, but the button to add to cart is missing). Is this a problem with the store or is there another way to download?

Thanks again!
Mike

That’s a temporary issue with the store. We’ll try to fix this asap.

In the meanwhile, I think you should be able to download ToscA from the archive section:
