Bug in spat5.virtualspeakers~?

I might have found a bug/issue in spat5.virtualspeakers~. Im using the object without simulated reverberation but with a HOA file (5th order including reverberation, decoded to 69 loudspeaker).

When loading the patch, the ‘internals’ are set to 8 even when setting “@internals 1”. Also, the CPU/audio load is super high (close to 100%). When clicking on the object and re-typing “@internals 1”, the load reduces to ~9% and everything works well. However, the status window still says “/internals 8”.

User-error or software bug?

Best, Axel

Hi,
The @internals value must be either 8 or 16.
That explains the behavior you noticed (in the status window) when typing @internals 1.

Anyway, the reverb is OFF by default, so this has no impact.

Assuming reverb is OFF, the CPU load depends on 1) the number of virtual speakers and 2) the HRTF you are using. (most often, we recommend IIR HRTFs because they are usually a lot more efficient than FIR)

Best,
T.
