Binaural in spat

Hi T,

does spat5.binaural represents an advantage over spat5.virtualspeakers~ ? both seems to be equivalent to spat5.pan~ operating with “/panning/type binaural” (help). Is there major difference we should be aware of before choosing which one to use?

Major difference seems that spat5.binaural seems more adapted for head.tracking supporting listener orientation which is not the case for the other one, isn’t it ?

Hi,

There is no significant difference : spat5.pan~ operating with “/panning/type binaural”, spat5.binaural~, and spat5.virtualspeakers~ are all doing binaural synthesis with HRTF. Under the hood, it’s the very same processing technique.
They only differ in the way their parameters are exposed to the user.
