Cool, Eric! Great move on 10-minutes removal. When I was testing it, it was making things… difficult to test

Heads up for Xp for Live users upgrading to Live 12.2.1

Capture d’écran 2025-06-22 à 12.53.57

For people who use the bundled max version : Ableton Live 12.2.1 now ships with Max 9.0.7 as the default Max for Live engine.

This means Max will now look for libraries (like spat5) in a new location:

~/Documents/Max 9/Packages instead of ~/Documents/Max 8/Packages.

If you’re using Xp and rely on spat5, make sure to manually copy the library to ~/Documents/Max 9/Packages so Xp can still work normally in this new Live update.

Hi everyone,

The new Live 12.2.1 update brings some structural changes that may cause confusion.

To clarify the situation:

• Live 11 does not support Max 9

• Live 12.1 was still shipped with Max 8

• Live 12.2.1 now comes with Max 9.0.7 as the default Max for Live engine

This transition creates inconsistencies:

Some users only have a Max 8 folder, others now see a new Max 9 folder without their usual libraries (like spat5), which can break existing setups.

Our recommendation:

To avoid issues, make sure you have both the Max 8 and Max 9 folders in your ~/Documents directory, and that your spat5 library is copied into both:

~/Documents/Max 8/Packages/spat5

~/Documents/Max 9/Packages/spat5

This ensures compatibility across Live versions and avoids errors when launching Xp or loading spatial patches.

Thanks for your attention, and feel free to reach out to us if you encounter any problems.
