Voice display bug, XML import bug

Hello,

There seems to be a display problem in the voice object.

A simple tree (? (((6 8) (3 3)))) is displayed as a tuplet.

And Georgia Spiropoulos reports a problem when importing an XML file generated by Finale in the omlist.
I don’t know if it is still active, so I pass on the information here.

For some reason, a negative value is added to every measure.
What should be :((6 8) ((6 ((1 (1 1 1)) (1 (1 1 1))))))
becomes: ((6 8) ((6 ((1 (1 1 1)) (1 (1 1 1)) -2))))

All best,

jc

Hello Karim,

Thank you for the quick reply.
I am on OM 6.8

Is the xml-import also fixed?

Best,

jc

Hi JC,
don’t think so (c.f Jean’s reply about spiropolous problem). It is basicaly a mis-use when using layers from Finale to OM.
In Om there is no such thing as a layer in a voice. That’s why. Beside that, OM doesn’t really support ternary rhythms (i.e dotted quarter note beats) since this is a particular classical/baroque usage. I beleive there is a way to integrate it but as it is rarely used in modern music the time coding frame doesn’t justify the trouble, - i.e it is not at all a priority…
One also should (as stated in old disscussions here), be aware that the MusicXML imports/exports from/to other environments, is not standard since each environment has it’s own parser and personal conventions (Sibelius/Finale not the same) although MusicXML is supposed to be a standard. THis is because internay each environment codes in its own way music objects (duration, pitch etc…)
