Tuning systems - modal composition

Was there earlier in OM definitions of various types of scale-systems, modalities, pentatonic, heptatonic, various “cultural” modes, maqams, dastgahs, temperaments…), various types of microtonal systems?

Cant find anything now, probably its just my memory slipping…

Or some lib lying around?

Dear Anders,

I don’t remember having this in the OM projects. It could be a library of some sort.
Scale systems exists though but they are tonal systems (major/minor). I don’t see unfortunately modal scales around.

Perhaps we should do something about it. Been thinking in expanding the “scale” concept to a more generalized one that could be customized.

theres something called omxmulti, seems suspended?

might be confusing with the Bill Schotstaedts CLM sources, a vast collection in scales.lisp: (https://github.com/andersvi/omclm/blob/master/sources/clm-5/scales.cl)

or perhaps examples in lilypond?

omxmuti is a third party library:

“OMXmulti” is a user library for Ircam’s OpenMusic programming environment. The library contains a single object that can be used as a replacement for both OpenMusic’s regular “chord-seq” and “multi-seq” score editors.

You can find it here:

And it doesn’t seem related to scales (?)

Great find about clm scales. thanx. But I don’t see the confusion here? are you talking about omxmulti and clm ?

I’m afraid the answer is whenever it might be useful for my own composition work :-/ - and even then probably in a shape nobody should be exposed to.

btw, whats there now doesnt really pay due respect to CLM, its powerful and massive array of DSP-tools. If we are to do some work with this, it should probably be something more comprehensive, and better adapted to a OM gui-patch workflow.
