transpose?

Hello,

When writing scores for transposing instruments, I remember using the “transpose -800” command to mean that the written notes will actually sound 800 cents lower.
I’m trying now with the latest version of Antescofo, and it does not quite seem to work. Unfortunately, there is no information about this command in the official documentation of Antescofo.
Any suggestions, please?
Thank you in advance.

Marco

PS: My usage “transpose 100”, meaning that is sounds a semitone higher.

  • This is strange, because the “transpose X” command is working in last Antescofo and Ascograph versions.
    Note it has effects on every note below below the command, so write it at the beginning of your score. For instance, in the following example, the first note is not affected by transpose.

NOTE A3

transpose 100

NOTE B3 2 measure1
NOTE D4 2

  • To check if the command actually works, there is two things you can try;
  1. Open the score in the Antescofo Reference patch (see tutorials), and run the score using the “Play” command. It make Antescofo plays every note as written in the score. Once a note is played, you can read its pitch in the “MIDI pitch” box, and on the music staffs. Play it again after having written some transpose command, to see if the played pitches actually change.
  2. In Ascograph, if you write some transpose command, then save and reload the score, the background of the piano roll shifts accordingly.

Great, thank you very much for the useful and thorough explanations. The second test showed a (small, silent) mistake in the score. Upon correction, Ascograph did display the written transposition. Thanks again.
