The idea of the program is to provide a source of physics-based data for sound generation and/or visualization, based on the modeling of ocean surface waves.
Up to now, the project focused mainly on the integration of the physical model into an interactive interface that allows the user to play with ocean wave-field and visualization parameters, hopefully stimulating the user’s creativity.
From that point, many sound-generation approaches can be investigated (one is already implemented), as well as ways to represent sound signals in the form of ocean wave fields.
Coming from the hydrodynamics/ocean engineering community, I am looking forward to discussions on how water waves can be used in an artistic context. Hope this will trigger your interest!
