Strange "arithmetic-type-error"

I’m trying to instal OM 6.10 for the first time, and I’m getting an odd error message (see screen shot) with a very basic test involving evaluating a list in the “note” object. I’m running OM on OSX 10.10.5, but I’ve gotten similar errors on a windows computer. This error occurs immediately upon attempting to evaluate a list, and often the borders of OM objects disappear and the program becomes unresponsive.

Is it possible that this could be caused by an error in how I’ve installed/setup the software, Multiplayer, etc.?

Thanks
D

Hello,

The error is a bit brutal but the reason is very simple I think : You should input a single number as pitch in a NOTE, not a list.

Once the list is in, the note display in the score miniview crashed, as you have noticed.

Thanks for your replay. I have no doubt that this is caused by user error, but now I’m doubly confused, because right at the beginning of Federico Bonacossa’s OM beginner tutorial (https://youtu.be/4Y_D5BfrGGY), he is sending a list to a note object to create a chord, if I’m not mistaken. Was this a change from an earlier version of OM? What is the proper way evaluate chords in Open Music?

Thanks,
Daniel

Ah, my mistake. Dr. Bonacossa in fact changes to the “chord object” in the tutorial previous to the one I referenced. Mea culpa. I’ll just be careful not to send chords to the “note” object in the future!

Thanks for your help.
