Questions about Modalys and Max

This may seem like a stupid question, but do I need Max to run Modalys for Max? (Panoramix seems to require a max client but I am able to use the program without having Max MSP installed.)

In regards to the download Modalys Framework and Software, is there a way to control Modalys with Open Music or must one only use the LISP command prompt to control Modalys?

  • Well you have certainly some standalone applications (like panoramix) that don’t require Max. YOu need max only if you need to use the max objects that are called “externals”.

  • You can use of course the om Modalys library. You have some examples coming with it. Most of them work. But some needs a serious update.

Hi Axel,

It is best to use the ‘Modalys for Max’ library.
That said, beside OpenMusic (OM), there is also a stand-alone application called ‘Modalisp’ which is text-based (using lisp language).
