ProtectLibV7 Error: 1038

Hi Everyone - When I open Mlys patches constructed using ForumMaxApps examples and open them in Max 5 (for reasons of compatibility with the rest of the patch) I get multiple instances of the error message “ProtectLibV7 Error: 1038.” Does anyone know what’s causing this, or some way around it? I thought it was registration-related, but my copy is fully registered. Perhaps these ForumMaxApps, built for Max 6, are not backwards compatible? Thanks for any advice — Christopher

Hi Christopher,

I am investigating, and will get back to you soon.
Would you have a patch example (with the problem) to attach?

Robert

Hi Christopher,

This kind of error indcates a protection code error. You probably have an old forum application somewhere (Mlys ? or Modalys) compiled with the old protection system which is incompatible with the new Intel macs…
PLease do check and update these.

Best
K

Yes, Karim is probably on the right track.

It would be good in any case, Christopher, to have your complete setup : computer model, OS version, Modalys version, etc.

Robert

I’m on a MacBook 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
OS 10.9.2
Modalys 3.4 and ForumApps 2013, downloaded yesterday… But perhaps I haven’t destroyed every lingering former Modalys module outside…

Have you verified that it is a priori possible to open these objects in Max on a registered machine and NOT get error messages? I’m sending my patch attached if you would like to try it…

Many thanks – Christopher

Hi again Christopher,

Your patch opens without this nasty ProtectLibV7 error.
I am using Modalys 3.4 on various setups.
It opens fine with either Max 5.1.8 or 6.1.6.

Also, the latest ForumMaxApps work well on 5.1.8 (the Modalys side - don’t know about other technos…)

Karim, does it ring any bell for you? A quick google search reveals that this problem has been come across by other people in the past.

Cheers,
Robert

Thanks Robert. I have finally found the problem: the authorization issue is NOT with Modalys, but with SPAT, which has a few objects included in the “p Rev.” So the solution is to have Spat properly authorized and up to date, or to eliminate this sub-patch.

Many thanks again - Christopher

So all is well!

  • Are you working on a new piece using Modalys? (I’m curious…)
