Problem with intlet & outlet

Hello,

I have some problems trying to connect objects. Sometimes the inlets and outlets are detected when I place the mouse over them but they create neither a cable (outlet) nor connection (inlet).
Also there’s this case were instead of creating a cable it resizes the object (video attached).
Tested in Linux Mint 20 with OM 7.7-b.2

Dear rc,

weird… The cursor at least should change when it is in reisze mode.
What window manager you are using?

Dear K,

Indeed it is weird and difficult to reproduce. I’m using Xfce.

If you try to resize a box, does the cursor change?

yes, no problem with resizing

It could be related to the default size of the box. Do you have special preferences in OM or it is just by default?

I think the are default but i can reset them to test. How is it possible to reset?

No no need to reset. If you need to do so however, you just open the om preferences panel and push
the “Restore…” button.

But no need. I think this issue is related to of certain box size and i coudn’t replicate it. So if you can really locate the exact problem i might start to debug it. Tried with a red patch and the extra inputs and outputs but for me the connection worked.
What is strange in your video capture, is that the cursor stays as an arrow pointer and doesn’t turn into a resize cursor. So also it could be a shortcut combination conflict with xfce also.
Xfce is a very good WM and has a lot of configs options so… Maybe…

Exactly. The problem is that the cursor shows a different behavior. Could it be that the 3rd outlet in the video is also on the same position of the resize corner?

Otherwise, how can i locate this exact issue?

I don’t get it?
Is it only happening in the example in the video?
Can you replicate it? ie, create a patch add inputs outputs and click on the third output, etc.
If this happens again, please send me the patch in question so i can see if it is the case.

I can send you the patch (attached) but I don’t think that the problem is in the patch but in the pixel overlap between the outlet and the resize corner.

Just to be sure. Here a vid how the cursor changes its state from arrow to resize.
As you can see sometimes EVEN if the cursor is on the outlet it will show the resize mode. But once you leave the zone and get back to the outlet you will have the arrow mode:
outlet.mkv (139.5 KB)

Does this behavior works with your environment?

Yes it works

I develop and work on linux. So when i will get across this bug, will investigate it. Unfortunately, i couldn’t yet reproduce it. By the way,a new version is in preparation and under development using LW 8.1 which is compatible with GTK 3. So many features will change for the worst or for the good  This eventually will be released in a year or two.
