Pm2harmonicpartialtracking cannot be loaded

Hello!

I am trying to do harmonic and inharmonic tracking.

When launching the Plugin “Harmonic Partial - Frequency”, I get the following error:

The plugin [pm2:pm2harmonicpartialtracking - frequency] of the track Harmonic Partial cannot be loaded: plugin initialization failed. Would you like to reset to the default state?

  • pm2 installed on my machine (works from the Terminal)
  • I have Pm2.dylib and Pm2.cat in the Plug-Ins/Vamp folder.

I am missing something. Do I have to do a pitch analysis and onset detection beforehand?

  • I saw a video on Vimeo but…
  • I get the same error for each partial when using the template: PM2-Partials-Tracking-Harmonic-20.ptldoc (located in Ircam-Vamp-Plugins-Manuals.zip)

Thank yOU !!
and congrats on that cool piece of software.

Olivier.

Hello,

Thank you for the report. What is the version of Partiels, of the plugins and of the OS ? I’ll try to reproduce it.

Hello!

  • MacOS 15.2 Sequoia
  • Partiels v2.0.9-dev2 (ce2908f) — I have the same problem with 2.0.8.
  • in the folder Plug-Ins/Vamp, Pm2.dylib is from Dec 13th 2024, and Pm2.cat from Dec 11th 2024.

I tested with MacOS 15.1 and it works.

The date of the plugins may correspond to the date of installation or modification of the files on your system, not the date of creation. In Partials, open the “Add Plugins…” panel (to see a list of all available plugins), and click on one of the PM2 plugins to see the version at the bottom of the panel. The version of the PM2 plugins should be 5.

If so, there might be two possibilities:

  • The Ircam Vamp Plugins are not up-to-date and/or the template you use is not up-to-date. In this case, download and install the latest versions.
  • Another version of the plugins is installed elsewhere and Partiels uses this older version. In the “Plugin Settings…” window, check the Vamp plugins paths and try to see if another version of PM2 plugins is installed there (if so, remove it).

Hello again!

Thank you so much for the help!!
I have the same window as you with version 5 for “Harmonic Partial”.
Let me check paths etc…

If so, it means that Partiels found the latest version. Are you sure you use the template from the same version?

I still have the problem even if I downloaded the Template from Github: here

FYI 1: I inded had 2 VAMPs paths: one in the root, one in my home. I now only have the “root” but still have the same issue. “Home’s” Plug-Ins did not have VAMPS.

FYI 2: Just in case, I also have Pm2 library for use in the Terminal: version 1.6.53

FYI 3: Not ultra in rush. I am using only for cool vizualisation for the moment…

Have you tested with several audio files? The sample rate is restricted. What is the sample rate of the audio file? Can you share the audio file?

Hello!!

Good new!!
I was indeed having a 32 bits and 22kHz soundfile.
It DOES works with a 32 bits and 44.1kHz soundfile !!!

Bravo, well seen!!

Thank you very much !!!

I’ll try to fix this issue. Is the sample rate 22000Hz or 22050Hz? 22050Hz should be okay :upside_down_face:
