Overriding meter changes in Poly quantization

Hi everyone,

Another newbie question. When you quantize polys, they freely change the meter at the end. Oftentimes, this results in having a bar in a different meter at the end, or even a different number of bars. Changing the time signature doesn’t fix the problem, since it changes the lengths of the notes. Adding a measure to the end of a truncated voice doesn’t help either, because it inserts the measure for all the other instruments too. I’m reading lisp manuals in all my spare time, with any luck some day I will be able to write lisp functions for all the little oddities, but in the meantime - is there any way to fix this?

P.S. Sometimes, when I am fruitlessly attempting to solve a technical issue, I play around with the 3DC editor. I’ve gotten some pretty interesting results…

Hi Michal,

About the meters at the end result of quantification. This is a feature (bad one…) of the quantizer and for the time being is problematic to solve. You just have to correct it after quantization. It occurs because of the rest (silence) to end of bar completion.

Hi Karim,

I don’t mind fixing it after quantization, but the problem is, when I change the meter in the score inspector, instead of adding x number of rests to fill in the bar, it stretches out the contents of the last bar to fit the new meter. I haven’t found any way to make it not do that. If I’m quantizing a whole piece it’s a minor nuisance, but I’ve discovered that quantification works much better on small to medium-sized sections, which you can then concat. I suppose maybe a potential solution would be to “pad” the music with a few extra notes on the end.
