The free OMax version (called OMax-MIDI unproperly) cans still process and render audio, in spectral mode. This means that the descriptors used for analysis are audio spectral descriptors such as MFCC (Mel frequency cepstral coefficients). See documentation on how to use OMax wit spectral modeling.
The non-free version (called omax-audio) includes in addition audio pitch description (using Yin~) and phase vocoder transformations (stretching and transposition using supervp~). When processing an audio stream that has obvious melodic structure, the pitch description gives optimal results. However the spectral description wortks well in many cases and specially when monodic pitch details are not relevant. If you already own Yin~ nad/or SuperVP~just download the free version and make these objects path accessible.
Note for FMA (Forum Max Apps) OMax users : unfortunately, the spectral version of FMA/OMax makes use of SuperVP. Which means that it won’t work with the free version (unless you already own SuperVP~). Only the MIDI version of FMA OMax will work with the free OMax version.
