OM 6.10 beta 3 for linux (.rpm & .deb)

Builds of OM 6.10 beta 3 are available at the usual places.

I’m currently having issues with 32bit libjack on newer fedora (fc22, fc23), and suspect bugs in the maintained packages (other 32bit apps show same behavior). Things work as expected in fc21.

All feedback vs. the behavior of OM with jack in newer OS are very wanted. Please send reports of OS, jack version (build info) etc. Thanks!

Thanks: Karim Haddad for testing .debs, Hans Wilmers for double checking 32bit jack clients on 64bit servers.

Hi All,

I am on Fedora 20 64bit with Gnome, I have downloaded last OM from Ircam-forge, on my system there are some little problems:

  1. direct installing does not work, so I have had first to uninstall previous version (6.9.14) and then installing new one
  2. on opening I receive a SDIF lib error advice, and sdif library does not work; I have tried to uninstall sdif library (and om as dependence) and then reinstalling first sdif library and then OM 6.10, but it is the same thing: sdif does not work

Apart this, midi, for what I could to verify, works: I have connected qsynth to OM and it plays.

I hope this can be of some help.

Regards

Hi fdsdb

I am on debian and had the same issue. I solved the problem in installing the sdif lib in /usr/local/lib.
Hope this helps.

Hi Karim,

Thank you for rapid answer. I have tried to relocate sdif-3.11.4-2.i386.rpm package, using both yum with --installroot option and rpm with --prefix or --relocate options, but I receive error messages from terminal relative to gpg key absent or sdif packages not relocatable. It is possible I have made some mistake, because I didn’t know it was possible to relocate rpm package installation, so this is first time I try it. I have also tried to compile the source from SDIF-3.11.4-src.zip, but at make command I receive an error. Sorry I could not be more exact.
Anyway, for the moment I have again installed 6.9.14 version, that works with sdif package.
Ciao

I don’t remember if i installed it from source or a deb package. But what i did is that i copied after installation, libsdif* from /usr/lib to /usr/lib/local/ as sudo.

First i located the stuff :

locate libsdif

Then copied most of it to /usr/local/lib/ except the link ,
then linked as so :
sudo ln -s libsdif-3.11.4.so libsdif.so

then the problem was gone.

Hope this helps.

Hi Karim,

Thank you very much: your solution works, now OM 6.10 open without warnings and sdif functions work. Thank you again.

Fabio De Sanctis De Benedictis (to explain what is fdsdb…)

Great Fabio !

Now can you do something for me ?
Can you just create an om+ method then select it, then type ‘e’ to see if the code shows up.
I can’t access the code anymore on this version .
Just want to know if its my system or something else.
It would be really great .

Hi Karim,

I apologize for sligth delay, I have read your mail only now.
Also on my system if I type ‘e’ the code window does not appear.
I have tried with OM+, mat-trans, first objects, but the result is always the same.
In OM listener window the messages are:

OM > om+ is not a valid symbol
OM > mat-trans is not a valid symbol
OM > first is not a valid symbol

Globally version 10 is slower in opening (and without any welcome image) and closing.

Today afternoon I am in Isntitute, so I can not answer, but tomorrow and following days I am at home, so if you want I can test some other things, please, tell me.

Ciao

Thanx Fabio,

It’s an issue with Lw. The dev team are working on it.
Thank you for the report.
