OM 6.10.1 and OMChroma

Hi,

I have just installed OM 6.10.1 (OsX 10.8.5) and, premising I have not still sufficiently tested all functions and libraries, to use one of my workspaces created by OM 6.9, I must transfer OMChroma library inside /Applications/OM 6.10.1/libraries folder, otherwise OM 6.10.1 doesn’t load OMChroma and freezes (I must force quit by left clic on icon in the dock). I have a dedicated folder for external libraries (/Users/fabio/lib/OM_workspace).
On the contrary if I create a new Workspace with OM 6.10.1 I can continue to use OMChroma located in my usual external libraries folder (that is I don’t need to move it inside /Applications/OM 6.10.1/libraries folder). Can anyone help me? Must I re-create my workspace in another location, or rewrite it? Thank you in advance.

Ciao

Hi,

Yes indeed i noticed that if you have a remote library somewhere this can cause some problems with the preferences of an existant workspace.
So either , move your libraries in the default folder (in OM folder), or you may try to trash your preferences.lisp file form your workspace’s folder (backup it however), and try again.

I had this same issue sometime ago.

Hi Karim,

Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately deleting prefereces.lisp file has no positive result, so I think I will move the library inside OM application folder, or I will modify my local lib folder structure and then preferences in OM 6.9 and 6.10.1 to use both OM version if I should need it.
I had a similar problem with OM 6.8 and 6.9 versions, and managed it with an ad hoc local libfolder structure.

Thank you again, ciao

Fabio

Hi Fabio – I can’t understand from your message if OMChroma is located in the OM workspace folder, or in another, external dedicated folder.
=> the recommended way to go is to use a dedicated library folder that is neither INSIDE your workspace, nor inside the OM folder.

Jean

Hi Jean,

Yes, I have my OM lib folder in a dedicated location as you reccomend. The dedicated folder is in /Users/fabio/lib/OM_lib.
It is not inside workspace nor in OM folder.
But despite this I have the little problem I have posted.

are you using the “auto load” features in the preferences ?
if so, try to unselect all libraries from it. I know it can create problems.

or do you have some “user-defined” OMChroma classes ?
that may also be a problem, if the classes are loaded before OMChorma…
