I downloaded Modalys for Max and there are “lua” objects or can I find the library.
Is there a “modalys” application all by itself or is it no longer relevant?
Has been replaced by “read” because it is a programming language perhaps?

Not sure I fully understand all of your questions, but yes ModaLisp is the standalone application for Modalys, based on Lisp language (mac only, though - are you on Windows?)
The preferred environment these days is Max, especially for real time.
Lua is used in Modalys for Max withing the powerful mlys.lua object, especially useful for 3D instrument construction.
