MIDI recording

A complete newbie question.

I would like to record midi directly from a MIDI keyboard to a chord-seq. I understand the current version allows for this, but I haven’t been able to decipher the explanation in the manual yet. I’m about to dig through the tutorials, but they are from OM 6.10, and were already a bit oudated then, so I’m not sure if that will do it. Do I have to set the preferences to reactive mode?

Thanks in advance.

I am working on a mac, and sending the MIDI out to logic for playback.

You don’t need to set the reactive mode.

In the CHORD-SEQ editor, press the “record” button (the red-circle one in the transport buttons).
While the button is pushed, you can use the play/pause buttons or the ususal keyboard shortcuts to start and pause playback, and then play and record from an external MIDI device.
If you press “stop”, record will be stopped as well.

Note that the MIDI input port must be set beforehand in the OM / MIDI preferences (“Ports Setup”).

I think I’ve tried everything - certainly every configuration of ports - but it just isn’t happening. The version from the tutorials, with reactive mode, doesn’t work either. It’s not a very important problem, I can always record in logic, and then move the file, but I do wonder what I’m doing wrong.
