MIDI error on Linux (Ubuntu)

Hi,
Could someone please give me some pointers on getting midi to work with OM on Ubuntu?

When I try to play midi (for example the chord on tutorial 01) I get the following error:

OM > PortMIDI ERROR: port 0 is not connected. Check MIDI preferences to connect MIDI devices ?

Many thanks,
Peter

Hi Peter,

I am on Debian and it shouldn’t be very much the same for ubuntu.
First you need to create an output for port 0 in OM preferences (click on +). It should look like in thescreenshot #1
Now you should launch qjack + i use qsynth (screenshot 2 + 3).

Hope this helps
Have fun

Yes, that did the trick. Thanks a lot!

All I’m getting now is the message

OM > Warning: player engine :midishare not available for #<chord 245397F7> (will be played on :midi-player).

even though midi-player is selected but it’s not affecting playback so I can live with it.

… same thing with me …
It’s just a warning…
Best
K
