Harmonic to Inharmonic Partial Ratio

Hello,

I’m new to using this type of software. I’m working on a project that involves analyzing the partials of an audio sample with high contrast between harmonic and inharmonic partials (isolated vocal recording with both singing and fry screaming). I am wondering if Partiels has a feature which will give me the ratio of harmonic to inharmonic partials in a numerical format. I haven’t been able to find it on my own.

Thanks,
Trent

Hello Trent,

Many analyses can represent (more or less well) the harmonicity of a sound. In the Ircam plug-ins supplied with Partiels, you’ll find the “voiced/unvoiced - cutoff frequency” analysis, which generates a frequency curve. Below the curve, the sound is considered voiced, and above it is considered unvoiced. So results in the high frequencies suggest a voiced aspect and, conversely, results in the low frequencies suggest an unvoiced aspect.

But Partiels is a host for Vamp analysis plug-ins and you can find many other Vamp plug-ins on the website, for example.
