Fluidsynth autoload synths on restart of OM 7.4

Hi all -

Does anyone know how to make autoload of fluidsynth synths work on restarting OM (7.4), please?

Before closing a workspace everything works great with fluidsynth - synth loaded, microtuning working, playback from chord-seq etc working fine.

On save and close and restart, fluidsynth doesn’t appear to autoload. Although in setting it does say “Loaded!”

To kick it back into working, and with micro tuning, it is necessary here to open the Fluisynth tab in prefs, click on load synths, go to a patch with and instance of fluid-synth-console, select the correct instrument, select the correct tuning, and then all is well.

Am I doing something wrong, to make this happen automatically on restart of OM?

I’ve tested with a new workspace created on OM 7.4 and the behaviour is the same.

Thanks!

Graham

Dear Graham,

First of all, sorry if this is a little buggy, BUT DON’T use autoload. Autoload works, but sometimes on certain machines (specially macs) it will result in a DAC slip (loud noise) when it is autoloaded. I didn’t find yet a solution to his problem.

Now for your problem here, apparently your .sf2 file is on an external Volume isn’t it?
So it might be, that the Volume is not mounted, and therefore, although fluidsynth is loaded, there are no soundfont loaded. This is just an assumption from my part.
Now if all goes well, normally, the fluid-synth-console preserves the settings if it is saved in a patch, on the condition that the soundfont hasn’t changed.

I have fixed some issues in the upcoming 7.5 version, and notably, i have added an autotuning settings also.

On the release of the new version i will put some explanations and demos.

Thanks Karim!

Ah - ok. I’ll avoid autoload for now.

The drive is definitely mounted each time. It’s permanently connected to the machine via PCIe, and with no power-saving features. The restarts were only restarts of OM, a few seconds after quitting it.

Anyway - it’s only an inconvenience to re-load, re-select instrument, re-select tuning on each start of OM, so I’ll just turn off autoload for now, given what you said about the loud DAC click.

Thanks for looking into it, Karim.

All the best,

Graham
