Does OpenMusic work on Windows 7 with just 4GB ram?
When I exit the program I get the error message:
error:trying to use CAPI without Multiprocessing.
Does someone know what that means?
Thanks
In principle it should work.
If you have an error when you exit, does it mean that you were able to start and use it already ?
(actually this looks more like a startup error)
What version of OM are you using ?
Yes,I was able to start OM but get the error in the terminal window after I exit.
I’ve installed the 6.8_r4 version.
I’m trying to figure out what CAPI is and what Multiprocessing it is
referring to.
Thanks,Jean
CAPI is the graphgical toolkit used for the omplementatioon of all the OM user interface.
It can run only in multiprocessing mode, but you should not worry about it
This error typically appears when some window or graphic component is created before the Lisp environment is correctly initialized. It is strange you have it at exit.
You may be correct about an error at initialization. I just don’t see the Lisp terminal window with the error until I close OM.
An exception message box is also sometimes displayed when I close OM,but I don’t know how to capture the message. The program doesn’t
close all the way but seems to become stalled. I guess you don’t have anyone else with a Windows 7 system saying they have the same or similar problem.
no, we have not had any similar report so far, but do not hesitate to post more information (screenshots etc.) if you get some
Thanks Jean. I must have been a little brain-dead not to have thought of screenshots. haha
Find two screenshots attached.
Do the screenshots indicate what’s causing the problem?
no. i still don’t know if this problem crashes at statup, just pops up at startup and lets you use OM, or appears at quitting OM as you said initially. your previous messages are not very clear on this respect.
the last screenshot seem to indicate that something happens at loading the preference file C:/…/Application Data/OpenMusic/6.08/OMPrefs.lisp so you can try to remove this file, maybe.
ps. you should try with the last OM version (OM 6.9)
The problem persists in OM 6.9
I give up!
Does anyone else in the group use Windows 7?
