Alternatively, is there a way for users such as myself to contribute to the documentation? The online manual is pretty badly out-of-date.

Very good idea. There is no wiki unfortunately for the time being. The outdated documentation is in a very lousy html format. I have all the files. When the forum is over (end of march) i will see what i can do in order to put it online and se if i can convert it into a wiki on github. If you have some tips, i would be glad to have these.
