Call for a composer for a study about the effects of music on social behavior in children and in several species of birds and non-human primates

Call for contribution

In the context of a scientific project funded by the ANR (the french national agency for research), the Laboratory of Ethology, Cognition and Developpement of Nanterre University and its partners are looking for a composer for a study about the effects of music on social behavior in children and in several species of birds (cockatiels, canaris, zebra finches and japanese quails) and non-human primates (marmosets and gibbons). The composer will be in charge of composing short and relatively simple music pieces (between five and ten minutes long) with sound characteristics which are discernable by the different species, composed from sounds that are familiar for these species. Extracts of vocalizations and environmental sounds will be sent to the composer, and meetings with the scientific team will be organized to ensure that the composition conforms to the needs of the project. The goal will be to compose a music piece which (as far as possible) would be appropriate for all the species, and to also produce species-specific variations of this piece (e.g. with variations in tempo, musical intervals, etc.). This contribution will be remunerated and needs to be delivered before January 2023. If interested, please send a short CV and extracts of past compositions to the following mail address: - mme.carla.aime at gmail.com -
