Best music notation software in combination with OM

Bonjour,

J’ai intensifié mon utilisation de figures polyrythmiques dans mes patch et il s’avère que le logiciel de notation que j’utilise, Finale (version 2011), n’arrive pas à détecter les subdivision des fichiers midi exportés. J’utilisais ce logiciel à cause de sa stabilité avec mon système d’exploitation, Windows. Il est peut-être temps pour moi de changer de logiciel de notation afin de pouvoir travailler l’aspect visuel des partitions.

Voici une figure rythmique à titre exemple de mon patch qui est utilisé en combinaison avec maketreegroups ayant un paramètre de ((4 2)).

I stepped up my use of polyrhythmic figures in my patch and it turns out that the notation software I use, Finale (2011 version), can not detect correctly the subdivisions of exported MIDI files. I used this software because of its stability with my operating system, Windows. It may be time for me to change notation software to work the visual appearance of partitions.

Here’s a rhythmic figure example of my patch which is used in combination with maketreegroups having a parameter ((4 2)).

((2 ((2 (1 1 1)) 1 1 1)) 1)

Bonjour,

Il vous faut plutot exporter vos Voices et poly en utilisant plutot save-as-etf qui a mon sens est le plus fiable pour Finale. Maintenant on sait que Coda (Finale) ont decide d’abandoner ce format mais il semble que tous les Finale peuvent les ouvrir jusqu’a ce jour. Le format midi sera toujours quantifie donc vous perdez evidement l’exactitude des figures de notes.

Personellement j’utilise lilypond ( http://www.lilypond.org/website/index.html) excellent mais necessite au debut une certaine prise en main.

Rebonjour

J’ai testé le transfert par EFT et j’obtiens malheureusement ce message d’erreur lorsque je tente d’utiliser l’objet save-as-etf.

Essentiellement, j’ai effectué la même routine qu’avec le save-as-midi pour créer le fichier.

Le fichier en question existe, alors je ne sais pas trop s’il s’agit d’un bug ou qu’il faut suivre une procédure particulière.

Ah juste,

Je me souvient qu’il y avait un truc avec la version windows.
Je pense uniquement qu’il faut le formater en dos.
Essayez donc de faire une copie
l’ouvrir une fois avec Finale
le sauvegarder en etf (si possible avec la version 2011 ??)
OU bien essayez avec un autre editeur text de le convertir en format dos.
Je pense c’est du au caractere de retour de ligne qui n’est pas compatible,
Essayez donc ceci (Mais surtout avec une copie)

… avez vous essayé l’export MusicXML plutôt que MIDI ?

I think you should make two things separate. First, do you need a score for analysis or performance?
If only for the analysis, than you should be satisfied with a partial output of your MIDI.

If you need it for performance, than I will suggest keeping Finale 2011.
The very striking characteristic of Finale is spacing flexibility and numerous options. The good spacing and font manipulation is not so flexible in Sibelius, and I am quite unsure in Lilypond. I have never used Lilypond but from the PDFs circulating around I have rarely seen some hi-quality engraved score.

Also (2), you can check import quantization settings in Finale, maybe it will clean out it better. Check carefully how the MIDI notes are represented, if they start a bit later or so in the file.

Also (3), if it is for performance so I suggest writing everything with paper and pencil and than finally notate it.

how can combine ( or transfer) a OM score ( Chord-seq, voice) to Finale? last week I have copy and past to finale but in vain.

@Jean. Il n’y a pas cette option de format sur Finale 2011 ce qui est très étrange par ailleurs. Je vais vérifier dans la configuration, il est peut-être dans un autre onglet. Merci pour l’info

@Musica75. It is for performance so it needs to have a high level of quality. Finale is not able, for the moment, to translate from OM divisions of divisions like 3 against 5 againt 7 in the same rhytmic voice. I have work with the quantization of Finale to adjust the file, but it is maybe a inherent problem with midi files. Option 3 is a last resort solution, but it would consumme way to much time.

@Shingd-kwei, 向您问好, I use a maquette and the save-as-midi object to create a midi.copy. You just have to evalute the save-as-midi and wait a bit depending of you computer. May take a few minutes to get compile. Then with Finale, I open the file as a different format and make some quantization adjustement.

I’ll try but I am not familiar with maquette ( i know it’s a timeline object) and I suppose with chord-sea, voice can direct save as a midi file?

2.can I have a shortcut table of OM? I have an old version OM Tutorials ( OM 5?) many shortcuts are different.
3.can I enter notes to voice, chord … with a midi keyboard?
4.can I combine OM through SoundFlower?
